a Posted on 11/28/2013 01:12:00 am by Kenya NGO Jobs Title: Communications SpecialistTetra Tech is recruiting for the following positions on the USAID financed East Africa Regional PREPARED Project, all of which will be based in Kisumu, Kenya. PREPARED is a five-year, multi-organization, comprehensive program aimed at mainstreaming integrated, multisectoral, evidence-based, climate-resilient development planning and program implementation into the EAC and its Partner States’ development agendas.The overall goal of PREPARED is to strengthen the resiliency and sustainability of East African economies, transboundary freshwater ecosystems, and communities, targeting three key development challenges that are likewise high priority areas. The first two are biodiversity conservation and sustainable access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).The third development challenge is climate change, which is not a sector in and of itself, but rather a set of environmental stressors that impact economic and social development and potentially exacerbate existing problems within the Biodiversity Conservation and WASH sectors. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting the PREPARED Project in the development of effective, high quality, communications products.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Editing and formatting of PREPARED deliverables and written communications products.Designing and producing required graphics required by members of the PREPARED team for project deliverables, brochures, presentations, etc.Final Report/Deliverable/Presentations/Written Communications Products:Production of final reports/deliverables/PowerPoint Presentations/written communications products in full compliance with PREPARED’s branding requirements.Project Database and Library of Project Deliverables and Communications Products:Develop and maintain a database of all PREAPRED reports, deliverables and communications productsDevelop and maintain both a physical library, and an electronic library, of all PREAPRED developed/supported reports, deliverables and communications productsStrategic Communications Products Developed Jointly with Key Partners:Working closely with Key Partners (including the EAC, LVBC and EAC Partner States), jointly develop targeted communications tools and products that support the goals and objectives of Key Partners and the PREAPED ProjectThe minimum requirements for this position are as follows:Eight (8) years of professional experiencePrior experience managing organizational communications, outreach and awareness activities.Prior experience with computer graphics/designFluency in English, including outstanding writing skillsSuperior computer skills, including mastery of tools in the MSOffice suiteExcellent interpersonal skillsSubject of the email should include “PREPARED” and the name of the position for which you are applying.The deadline for submission of applications: Sunday, December 8, 2013. Short-listed candidates may be contacted for an interview. Selected candidates will be hired as soon as they are available. Compensation will be commensurate with relevant experience. Tetra Tech ARD is committed to diversity and gender equality in all of its operations. We encourage applications from women and underrepresented groups. Tetra Tech ARD is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
