The program operates in 8 counties of Turkana, Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir and Tana. BRHC is recruiting a Program Officer to be based in Garissa.The key role of for the position is to work with healthcare leaders, such as the private sector health leadership, Ministry of Health and other government officials, and private sector health care workers, to support improved access and quality of health services.
Assist in the implementation of capacity building program for private healthcare professionals on the topics of HIV/AIDS (including ART), TB, malaria and reproductive health;Work with Ministry of Health to facilitate delivery of mentorship packages and performance-based financing to private health providers;Strengthen referral programs between private and government health facilities;Monitor program outcomes and implement continuous quality improvement;Manage relationships with key stakeholders in government, private sector and within the project;Promote the interface between Ministry of Health and private partners in:Referrals and linkagesCommodities procurementQuality assuranceMonitoring and reportingWork with Senior Program Officers and technical experts to develop and pilot innovative approaches that leverage the capacity of local private stakeholders to address Northern Kenya’s health and development challengesAdvocate for public private partnershipsEnsure high quality, timely reporting by private sector providersTogether with DHMT, ensure DHMT supportive supervision to both private and public facilities
Bachelors or advanced degree in medical or health field and 3+ years of relevant experience.Diploma in related field and 7+ years’ experienceExperience in public health programming with special preference to experience in HIV/AIDS, reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health programming, preferably with a USAID implementing partnerExperience working with the private health sector and/or commercial business a plusWillingness and ability to work in Northern KenyaUnderstanding of key stakeholders, geography, culture, and institutions in Kenya, preferably Northern KenyaDemonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the proven ability to foster good will and build consensus at all organizational levelsHigh level of computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)Fluency in written and spoken English
Comfortable in rapidly changing and uncertain environments, including multi-taskingAble and willing to travel extensively, as work demandsHigh level of professionalism and leadership combined with a passion for health issuesSelf-motivated with a strong entrepreneurial spiritFluency in Northern Kenyan dialects
